Ray Castellano edits FoundryNet. He writes or rewrites every guide and archive page, checks each against its cited standards and public records, and answers the messages that arrive through the contact page. When a page says it was reviewed in a given month, he is the person who reviewed it.

Background. Ray spent the 2000s as a network engineer in university and service-provider networks where BigIron chassis formed the core, FastIron switches filled the wiring closets and ServerIron pairs fronted the web farms. He configured VRRP pairs, chased spanning-tree loops, tuned health checks and, later, decommissioned most of that equipment in favour of its successors. The archive section, starting with the history of Foundry Networks, is written from that experience and from public records.

How each page is checked. Guides follow a fixed order: the mechanism first, the configuration shape second, the failure modes third. Every protocol claim is checked against the RFC or IEEE standard linked in the sources list at the foot of the page. Configuration examples are marked illustrative and use documentation address ranges. Where a detail about twenty-year-old hardware could not be confirmed it is hedged or left out, and the page says so.

What he covers now. The same edge devices that once balanced web farms now face crawlers, answer-engine fetchers and AI agents. The newer pages, such as identifying AI crawlers in your traffic and reviewing network changes drafted with AI help, apply the old discipline to the new traffic and the new tools.
